Welcome to Therapy by Laura
Life starts to change when you start to change.
Life starts to change when you start to change.
Life starts to change when you start to change.

A very warm welcome.
My name is Laura, and I’m a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with over ten years of experience supporting people through life’s challenges.
I offer a calm, compassionate space where you can speak openly and honestly, at your own pace. Therapy with me is grounded in safety, trust, and human connection — a place where nothing you bring is too much or too small.
I’m an integrative counsellor based in Tadworth, offering one-to-one therapy on both a short- and long-term basis. Over the years, I’ve worked with a wide range of mental health and life issues, including anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, lack of motivation, attachment difficulties, trauma, PTSD and suicidal thoughts.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting. Often, the most important step is simply beginning.
There are many reasons people choose to seek therapy, and reaching out can feel like a big and sometimes daunting step. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or unsure of where to turn — or you may simply sense that something isn’t quite right.
My aim is to offer a supportive, non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever is coming up for you, at a pace that feels right. Together, we’ll make sense of your experiences, patterns and emotions, helping you build greater understanding, resilience and self-compassion.
Therapy isn’t about being “fixed” — it’s about being heard, understood, and supported as you move towards meaningful change.
If you’re considering starting therapy and wondering whether it might be right for you, you’re very welcome to get in touch.
Depression and anxiety are common yet deeply uncomfortable experiences that many people face at different points in their lives. They can affect how you think, feel, and relate to the world around you, often leaving you feeling overwhelmed, low in motivation, or disconnected from yourself.
Through counselling, I aim to support you in rediscovering a sense of balance, clarity, and emotional steadiness. By working together, we can gently explore both past and present experiences, helping you understand the patterns that may be contributing to how you feel and keeping you feeling stuck.
Using a range of therapeutic approaches tailored to you, therapy can offer a space to build coping strategies, regain perspective, and reconnect with a sense of hope and direction.
Relationships can be a source of deep connection, but they can also bring confusion, pain, and emotional uncertainty. You may find yourself struggling with trust, boundaries, communication, or patterns that repeat across relationships — whether with partners, family members, or others close to you.
Attachment experiences, often shaped early in life, can influence how safe you feel with others, how you express your needs, and how you respond to closeness or distance. These patterns can show up as fear of abandonment, difficulty letting people in, people-pleasing, or feeling disconnected even within relationships.
In therapy, we can explore these experiences together in a safe and supportive space. By gently understanding your relational patterns and where they come from, you can begin to develop healthier, more secure ways of relating — both to others and to yourself.
Experiencing a loss can be one of the most painful and destabilising times in life. Grief can affect every part of you — emotionally, mentally, and physically — and may leave you feeling overwhelmed, confused, or unsure how to move forward.
Grief is deeply personal and looks different for everyone. There is no right or wrong way to grieve, and no set timeframe for healing. In therapy, we can explore your feelings together, allowing space for the pain while supporting you as you begin to adjust to life following your loss.
At your own pace, we can work towards finding meaning, acceptance, and a way of carrying your loss that feels manageable and authentic to you.
There are times in life when you may feel disconnected from yourself, uncertain about who you are, or lacking confidence and self-worth. You might find yourself stuck in unhelpful patterns, struggling with relationships, or feeling lost during periods of change or transition.
These experiences can be deeply unsettling and may impact how you see yourself, how you relate to others, and how you move through the world. In therapy, we can gently explore these feelings together, helping you gain greater understanding of yourself and the experiences that have shaped you.
Through a supportive and collaborative process, I aim to help you build self-compassion, clarity, and a stronger sense of self, allowing you to move forward with greater confidence and emotional balance.
